Resistance

This image expresses the struggle between belonging and freedom. It is one of a series of images reflecting the myth of the Selkie. Selkies are mythological creatures capable of transforming from a seal to human form by shedding their skins. The tale describes a female selkie coerced into a relationship with a human who then hides the selkie's skin to prevent her from returning to the sea in her seal form. In this image (and series), the unrelenting human is also female.
