About Vivid Impressions
I am a fine art photographer based in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. I have been making images for over 40 years. For the last 12 years I have been focused on general fine art, fine art figurative and landscape photography, often combining these as an expression of our fragile existence on this planet. My work has been shown locally and has been recognized in national and international competitions. I make an effort to appreciate the beauty in our world every day, and attempt in some small way to capture this beauty in the images I create.
Making fine art figurative images is very much a collaboration between the photographer, the model and the environment. The play of light and shadow on the environment and on the female form provides for infinite possibilities; and a sense of wonder and awe when the elements meld into a beautiful image. My goal is to elicit in the viewer the same emotion that the image stirred in me when I created it, and to make art suitable for display.

Vivid Impressions Artist Statement
I have been interested in photography my entire adult life. I bought my first camera as soon as I graduated from college and could afford one. My initial influences were Ansel Adams, Helmut Newton, Edward Weston, Lucien Clergue, Joyce Tenneson and Annie Leibovitz.
While I do produce some color work, my love lies in black and white photography. I initially gravitated to landscape photography but about 12 years ago I started on my journey into the fine art nude. Ultimately, I blended the two and began exploring the nude in nature. This has provided me with an endless supply of conceptual options focusing on the nude female form in nature as an expression of our fragile existence on this planet .
I believe the quest of the photographer is not only to capture a moment in time, but also to capture the essence of that moment, to elicit the space, time and emotion of the moment. The female form perfectly transforms light and shadow into the most exquisite visual journeys. My hope is to capture the attention of the viewer and elicit a visual response that stimulates the imagination. It is this endless journey that drives my desire to create art.
